Filippinske sømandskoner nu kontakt m Søfartsmuseet Kronborg

Juni/juli 2011.

Dear Birgit,
Thanks for your message and concern for the families of seafarers here in the Philippines. It's true we have different cultural heritage, but one destination: a joyful fulfilled life with the Lord.
About 34 years ago I was at Copenhagen with my seafaring spouse. This was the last country I visited before I flew for Amsterdam with him to catch up with the ship "MS General Valdes," and then home alone via Singapore Airlines. The ship was on a tramping voyage. He was the Chief Engineer.
I've known several seafarers' wives at different ports with limited bonding time and I've been missing them. When my husband passed away in 1998, I received sympathy messages and prayers from them,
Filipino seafarers' families are special in three visible aspects. One, they are lifelong honeymooners. Second, their lifestyle is unique, series of departures and homecomings. Third, parenting is shouldered by the wife at home and at a distance by the seafarer. However, marriage of seafarer are not always lifelong existing and blessed. A few or more are "broken" caused by in-laws' intervention, alluring women on board ships at ports, lack of communication and limited bonding, seafarers' wives failure to budget allotment, working wives' failure to attain the children's emotional and psychological needs and incurable illnesses. There are other minor reasons, but can easily be reconciled.
Mr. Adsersen can contact me by e-mail with regards to the Filipino family prevailing concerns and impact on the values and norms of Filipino seafarers relationship on board the ship, at ports, and at home.
On Sunday, 26th of June, all SWAPI will meet at the Aristocrat Restaurant to witness the oathtaking of Melly Pagunsan as Chairperson of our Credit Cooperative (SWAPCO). Certainly, I will bring the message from you to everyone. I am sure our officers will be happy and will feel your spiritual presence as if you were with us.
Regards and hugs,
Alice

Hilsen fra Alice, SWAPI – Seaman Wives Association of the Philippines Inc.

Dear Birgit,
We received your e-mail long time ago.
I am glad that you are concerned of the family life of Filipino seafarers.
Sad to mention of the hostage crisis of seafarers in Somalia. We are one universal family victimized by this satanic piracy. I hope and pray that we overcome this global crisis.
I had been busy attending to household chores and meeting the needs of SWAPI members.
We celebrated SWAPI 32nd Foundation Day last January 28, 29, and 30 at Puerto Princesa, Palawan where the world famouse underground river is located. Our SWAPI Chapter in Palawan hosted the anniversary celebrations.
How are you these days? You've perhaps read in the papers of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan. I am emotionally affected because I was in those cities and I enjoyed the courtesy of Japanese Seafarers's families there.
We are also under threat of these natural calamities today. We have awareness lectures and instructions on what to do in times of these disasters.
We tried to organize a committee to meet Mrs. Ma. Connie Gehrt, but we did not get her schedule and details of her coming to the Philippines. Where is she now?
Regards and hello to all Danish Seafarers' wives.

Be Well,
Alice

Birgit.
